Commissioner Gavan Reynolds AO sworn into Australian Border Force

The Australian Border Force (ABF) has welcomed its new Commissioner with the swearing-in of Gavan Reynolds AO in Canberra at the weekend.

The official ceremony was held at ABF Headquarters in Canberra yesterday (Sunday 10 November 2024), where the Minister for Home Affairs, Tony Burke, led an affirmation to swear-in Mr Reynolds as the third Commissioner of the ABF.

The Minister led the official party, which included Department of Home Affairs Secretary Stephanie Foster PSM, who were also joined by ABF officers from all ranks, to witness the significant and auspicious ceremony.

During the ceremony, Commissioner Reynolds swore an affirmation to uphold the standards of professionalism and conduct required of all ABF officers, and to uphold the powers and authority entrusted to him as the ABF Commissioner and Comptroller-General of Customs.

Commissioner Reynolds joins ABF with more than 40 years of service to Australia, during which he held key leadership positions at strategic and operational posts, as well as most recently being the Australian Defence Force’s inaugural Chief of Defence Intelligence.
