Community Advisor Grant applications close soon

Glenaladale community groups are reminded that Community Advisor Grant applications close at 5.00pm on Monday, 22 July 2019.

Later this year the Glenaladale community will be asked to contribute to the environmental assessment of the proposed Fingerboards Mineral Sands Project.

Community Advisor Grants will enable locals to access expertise to understand and contribute to the Environment Effects Statement (ESS) process.

Two grants of up to $40,000 each are available to local not-for-profit community organisations. Funds can be used to engage legal services to assist the preparation of a submission to the Fingerboards Mineral Sands Project EES.

The EES process is key in determining if the proposed minerals sands development should proceed and, if so, under what conditions.

Not-for-profit community organisations interested in accessing legal support should visit the Community Advisor Grants page.

Submissions will be assessed on an organisation’s ability to demonstrate its commitment to being involved in the EES process, how the project could lead to substantial potential impacts on its members and a demonstrated need for government funding to enable it to participate.

Last year Victoria’s first minerals resources strategy was issued, State of Discovery has a key focus on ensuring communities are engaged in the responsible development of mining projects.

Applications close 5pm on Monday 22 July 2019.
