From supporting young people with intellectual disability planning their vocation to assisting with a community gardening and wellbeing initiative, this year’s Annual Community Grants will help bring local ideas to life across Bayside, with 23 community organisations and clubs sharing $199,979 in funding.
Bayside Mayor Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes said the funding round was highly competitive, with 73 community groups applying for a combined $670,000 from the $200,000 available.
“The Bayside Community Grants program provides funding to support and strengthen local not-for-profit community groups and organisations to develop initiatives that meet the needs of the Bayside community,” she said.
Bayside’s Annual Community Grants provide up to $12,000 in funding for initiatives that contribute to new programs and equipment to improve outcomes for local residents.
This year’s grant recipients include (but are not limited to):
- Inclusion Melbourne’s vocational pathway planning with young people with an intellectual disability
- Half Moon Bay Life Saving and Swimming Club’s Women and Girls Leadership Development Program
- Brighton Hebrew Congregation Inc audio visual upgrade for community gathering space
- Nagle Pre-School KidsROAR with Bayside Kindergartens
- Evolve Community Hub Ltd for its From Arrival to Belonging program – a Bayside-led program for displaced Ukrainians
- Cultivating Community’s Growing Connections Brighton.
- U3A’s installation of PVC blinds at Beaumaris.
