Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting the community to attend the Emergency Services Gala Day on Sunday 14 June 2026 at Victory Park, Shepparton.
Council is proud to support the free community event, which will feature a friendly cricket match between Greater Shepparton’s multicultural communities and local emergency service representatives, alongside a range of family-friendly activities and entertainment.
The day will include free cricket and AFL workshops for children, emergency service displays with vital preparedness information, games and giveaways, a free sausage sizzle, and live half-time entertainment from a Sri Lankan Papare Band.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the event is a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together and recognise the important role of local emergency services.
“The Emergency Services Gala Day is a great way to connect our diverse community with the dedicated local emergency service agencies who support us,” he said.
“We also recognise Thank a First Responder Day on Wednesday 10 June, and this event is a great opportunity to show appreciation for the people who provide strength and support to our community when it matters most.”
The event follows the success of similar community initiatives, including the Community Cup organised by the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, which raised funds for the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
The Gala Day aims to promote emergency preparedness awareness while celebrating the strength, diversity and resilience of the Greater Shepparton community.
The main cricket match will begin at 11am, following the junior workshops from 10am to 11am, with half-time entertainment to be provided during the match.
