Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting the community to participate in the opening of the new Millmerran Aquatic Centre next week.

An official opening and free community fun day will be held next Friday 15 September from 11am at the facility, 48 Commens Street, Millmerran.

TRC Environment and Community Portfolio Chair Cr James O’Shea said the opening day event was a great chance for the community to have their first look at the new facility.

“TRC is proud to have delivered this project for the Millmerran community and everyone is whole-heartedly invited to the official opening next Friday from 11am.

“As the weather warms up, I’ve got no doubt the community will love the facilities offered by the new aquatic centre and as an added bonus, entry will be free for all patrons during the entirety of the 2023 September Queensland School Holidays,” Cr O’Shea said.

The official opening event will feature a free sausage sizzle along with a range of activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

“Bring the kids down to celebrate the end of the school term for a swim next Friday afternoon,” Cr O’Shea added.

The new aquatic centre features a new six-lane 50 metre pool, zero-depth splash pad with a tipping bucket for the little ones, new kiosk building, change rooms, covered grandstand, improved shade areas and pool heating.

The upgrade was funded by TRC and through the Australian Government’s Drought Communities Fund.
