The City of Playford has received $2M to upgrade four community parks across the city thanks to funding from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Parks in Elizabeth South (Willison-Goodman Reserve), Davoren Park (Mandeville Reserve), Elizabeth Downs (Burdell Reserve) and Craigmore (California Reserve) will be upgraded to enhance their appearance, accessibility and recreation opportunities.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the upgrade of these parks will encourage families to use these community spaces.
“We are very excited to see some of these underutilised spaces be revamped into more family-friendly areas,” Mayor Docherty said. “Many of these reserves are also pedestrian links to shopping centres and services, so we want to improve the pathways within the reserves and incorporate public lighting.”
The concept designs for the four parks are currently out for community consultation as Council seeks feedback on the proposed new features.
“Whilst the facilities at each park vary, they include features such as new or improved play areas, pathways, irrigation/landscaping, seating, signage and shelters,” Mayor Docherty said. “Burdell Reserve and California Reserve are larger reserves and also include barbecues, fitness equipment and walking loop trails.”
