Cr Stefan Koomen Takes Leave To Contest State Election

Waratah Ward Councillor Stefan Koomen has informed Council of his intention to run for Victorian Parliament in the State Elections to be held on the 28 November.

Under the Local Government Act 2020, announcing an intention to stand as a candidate does not require a Councillor to step down from Council.

Cr Koomen has commenced leave from his Councillor role from Thursday 5 November.

During his leave, Cr Koomen will not undertake Councillor duties, attend meetings, briefings or Council events, or represent the City of Casey as a Councillor.

This ensures a clear distinction between his role as Councillor and Candidate.

Depending on the outcomes of the State Election, Cr Koomen will resume his Councillor duties from 29 November.
