Community Unrest – Numbulwar

Northern Territory Police were called to a number of large disturbances in the community of Numbulwar overnight.

Police and a local Aboriginal Liaison Officer attended the scene and engaged with the community residents urging people to return to their homes and keep children from the street.

A Toyota Prado and a number of weapons have been seized. Numbulwar Police are investigating the incident.

Superintendent Cherie Gaffney would like to thank the strong Traditional Owners of Numbulwar for working with local police and ALO’s to restore calm in their community.

“There are a small group of individuals who continue to upset and put the safety of the community at risk. Community safety remains our top priority, I encourage Numbulwar Community to continue to work with local police and report antisocial behaviour.

“Violence of any sort is not welcome in the community of Numbulwar and will not be tolerated.”
