Company charged over dangerous goods storage

The company is facing four charges under section 31(1) of the Act.

WorkSafe alleges Crossroads failed to take all reasonable precautions to prevent tampering, theft or unauthorised access involving dangerous goods that were stored at the premises between March 2019 and March 2020.

It is also alleged the company failed to take all reasonable precautions to prevent the leakage of dangerous goods and to prevent a fire or explosion at the site.

WorkSafe further alleges Crossroads failed to take all reasonable precautions to prevent any damage to property or danger to the public by an accident involving dangerous goods at the premises.

The site is not the location of the 2018 chemical fire at Tottenham.

The matter is listed for a filing hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 10 March.
