Concepts unveiled for northside park ‘n’ ride boost

The Palaszczuk Government unveiled new concept images for the Virginia and Geebung park ‘n’ ride upgrades.

Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard and Member for Aspley Bart Mellish unveiled the concepts, while also announcing tenders were now being sought for their detailed design.

“The Palaszczuk Government is investing more than $114 million to deliver more car parking spaces at park ‘n’ rides across the south east, including 50 new spaces at Virginia station,” Ms Linard said.

“In 2017/18, a record number of trips were taken on public transport in SEQ. The new park ‘n’ ride upgrade will give people the choice to walk, ride, catch a bus or drive to the station to catch their train.”

Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said the Geebung station park ‘n’ ride upgrade would unlock 70 new car park spaces.

“As our community continues to grow and more locals take public transport, it’s important that we build complementary infrastructure like park ‘n’ ride facilities,” Mr Mellish said.

“Once complete, the new park ‘n’ ride facilities will make it even easier for local to connect with high frequency public transport.
