Connecting jobseekers with local industries

Wyndham City and The Gordon TAFE are helping to engage residents with the most in-demand jobs in Wyndham during the COVID-19 pandemic with a virtual information session for local people seeking work.

Future Focused Economy portfolio holder Cr Walter Villagonzalo said the Industry Insights sessions will run on the last Tuesday of each month for 2020, in order to show Wyndham jobseekers what local industries are hiring and how the industries operate.

“The next session on September 29th will host hiring managers and recruiters from the early childhood sector who will offer their insights on careers in the industry, tips on applying for roles, and what they looking for in potential staff members,” Cr Villagonzalo said.

“With many Wyndham residents out of a job because their workplaces are reducing in size and the tightening their budgets temporarily, we want to show you there are still plenty of vacant jobs available locally.”

“Future sessions will focus on labour hire opportunities and the cleaning and sanitation industry, which is one of the biggest growth industries expanding to meet the current demands of the pandemic.”

“While workers have been stood down from their regular jobs, labour hire agencies have been busy placing workers in temporary positions while we await the re-opening of our economy.”

Industry Insights will be held Tuesday 29th September from 10am -11:30am FREE online via Zoom Virtual Session. Register here: https://www.wyndhamtogether.com.au/event/industry-insight-into-early-childhood-education/ to receive the Zoom login details for this event.
