- The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has announced the commencement of construction of the new Ripley Police Station.

- The Ripley Police Station will become the new headquarters for the Ipswich District Police.
The official commencement of construction for the new Ripley Police Station has been marked with a formal event attended by Police Minister Mark Ryan, Queensland Police Service representatives, including Superintendent Kylie Rigg, and other community leaders.
The new Ripley Police Station represents a $34 million investment in the region’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the local area. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the current and future operational policing demands of the growing community.
Upon completion, the station will not only serve as a hub for general duties officers but will also house specialist units, including the Child Protection Investigation Unit, the Criminal Investigation Branch, and the Ipswich District Property Section. Additionally, the building will feature advanced forensic facilities to support the Ipswich District Scenes of Crime and Forensic Crash Units.
As previously announced, the government has also funded additional police officers and resources for the Ipswich Police District. The QPS has determined that these new officers will be deployed as follows:
- 3 officers and an additional police vehicle for the Rosewood Police Station during 2024-25;
- 3 officers and an additional police vehicle for the Lowood Police Station during 2024-25;
- 2 officers and an additional police vehicle for the Goodna Police Station during 2024-25;
- 2 officers and an additional police vehicle for Scenes of Crime during 2024-25; and
- 30 officers, 7 frontline support personnel, 6 additional police vehicles, 2 Mobile Police Beats for the new Ripley Police Station during 2025-26.
Ripley has been identified as a priority development area by the Queensland Government, expected to accommodate substantial residential and mixed-use developments. With the population projected to increase by 104,000 people by 2046, there is strong need for enhanced policing services.
The Ripley Police Station will also become the new headquarters for the Ipswich District Police, significantly enhancing the region’s policing capabilities.
This investment is about laying the foundation for a safer future for all residents of the Ipswich region. The new police station is a critical infrastructure project that will bolster the capacity of Ipswich police to prevent and respond to crime, ensuring the safety and well-being of the growing community.
As stated by the Minister for Police and Community Safety Mark Ryan:
“The construction of the new Ripley Police Station is a testament to the Queensland Police Service’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of this rapidly growing community,” Minister Ryan said.
“This facility will not only serve the immediate needs of the area but is also designed with future growth in mind, ensuring that the Ipswich region remains well-protected for years to come.”
As stated by the Member for Ipswich, Jennifer Howard:
“The construction of this police station is a fantastic investment for the expanding Ipswich region, and I know it will enhance the safety and security of my electorate,” said Ms Howard.
“Ipswich is a great area for people to settle, but it’s important that the Miles Government and the Queensland Police Service demonstrate our commitment to keeping them safe, and this facility does just that.”
As stated by the Member for Bundamba, Lance McCallum:
“The new Ripley Police Station is a great enhancer of community safety for the area and will be of great service to this fantastic part of Queensland,” Mr McCallum said.
“As we continue to grow, this facility’s state-of-the-art features will ensure the region remains safe, and secure for a long time to come.
As stated by the Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann:
“This new state-of-the-art facility demonstrates fantastic forward thinking and puts community safety at the forefront of its priorities,” said Mr Neumann.
“The Ipswich region is a growing region, and I know that every resident now, and into the future will be proud of this facility and its officers who stand at the ready to protect the community.”
As stated by the Ipswich Mayor, Teresa Harding:
“Ipswich is growing quickly, and every resident deserves to feel that they’re safe in this community; and this facility will serve to enhance community safety,” said Ms Harding.
“Its state-of-the art facilities, and specialist units as well as its general duty officers will serve the community well going forward.”
As stated by Superintendent Kylie Rigg:
“The new Ripley Police Station is a critical investment in our operational capabilities,” Superintendent Rigg said.
“It will provide our officers with the facilities and resources they need to effectively prevent and respond to crime, ensuring we can continue to serve and protect the community as it expands.
