The Tasmanian Liberal Government’s support of the advanced manufacturing sector continues with 15 more local businesses sharing in almost $1.2 million through the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program.
As part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we’re backing manufacturing businesses to expand their capabilities to support interstate and international market growth opportunities and this program does just that.
Premier and Minister for Trade and Major Investment, Jeremy Rockliff, said the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Program encouraged advanced manufacturers to invest in new equipment to support growth into new markets or expand current ones.
“It is anticipated that this funding will result in more than $2.8 million in total investment and generate around 70 new manufacturing jobs in Tasmania,” the Premier said.
“This round of the program takes the total number of funding recipients to 66, sharing in $4.7 million and driving more than $12.5 million in local investment.
“Excitingly, in this round we expanded the program to include high tech companies whose work supports advanced manufacturers, and it is particularly pleasing to note that several were successful including Indicium Dynamics Pty Ltd.
“The successful recipients include Indicium which is a Hobart-based specialist in data integration and the Internet of Things behind Fire Foresight which harnesses Artificial Intelligence for the early detection and management of bushfires.
“It is a great example of how this program is encouraging innovation, not just for Tasmania but with possibilities for global impact by exporting this technology to regions grappling with similar challenges.
“Other recipients from round 6 of the program include advanced electrical systems, food products and transport components production.
“Once again, our advanced manufacturing and advanced technology companies are developing some of the most exciting products and systems in the world, helping put Tasmania on the map as a centre for innovation.”
