There are 1,114 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 89 active cases in ICU, including 35 on a ventilator, and 33 cleared cases in ICU.
5,286,504 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 18,646 administered yesterday at state-run centres.
94.7 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 93.2 per cent have had two doses. This excludes the most recent Commonwealth data.
23.7 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Victoria was notified of 28,128 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This includes:
- 10,337 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test and who reported the result to the Department
- 17,791 who returned a positive result on a PCR test
Of those who reported a positive result on a Rapid Antigen Test yesterday:
- Approximately 60 per cent were from tests undertaken yesterday, 15 January.
- Approximately 19 per cent were from tests undertaken 14 January.
- With the remainder from tests undertaken over the previous five days.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 13 deaths of people aged in their 70s, 80s and 90s. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 1,691. Of these, three deaths were reclassified due to duplications.
There are 237,559 active cases in Victoria.
59,031 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 18,382,910.

Rapid Antigen Tests
From tomorrow, 3 million rapid antigen tests will be distributed to key workforces – including health care, disability, aged care and emergency services – and vulnerable Victorians. This will ensure these groups can be diagnosed quickly to allow them to both seek the treatment if required and isolate to prevent transmission.
