Coronavirus update for Victoria 18 June 2022

There are 419 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 18 active cases in ICU, including 8 on a ventilator, and an additional 7 cleared cases in ICU.

6,270,298 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 1,086 doses administered yesterday at state-run centres.

68 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 94.6 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have had two doses.

6,601 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday. This includes 4,536 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test and 2,065 who returned a positive result on a PCR test.

Sadly, the Department was notified of 29 deaths yesterday in people aged in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 100s. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 3,731. 15 of today’s reported deaths occurred in the past week with a further 12 deaths that occurred in May and early June. Two of today’s reported deaths are historic cases from mid-April.

There are 41,216 active cases in Victoria.

7,994 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 21,283,044.

Update to pandemic orders

As part of Victoria’s ongoing management of the coronavirus pandemic, changes to pandemic orders will come into effect from 11:59pm, Friday 24 June.
