Following Councillor endorsement of the process for the Financial Sustainability Review of Council’s finances, a competitive tender process was undertaken with 11 applicants shortlisted to four by the appointed committee.

The final result has seen the appointment of AEC to this project with contracts signed off yesterday.

AEC has a wealth of experience in the local government space, across NSW, QLD and NT. They are a small firm of specialists and also assist Local Government NSW on various contracts.

The scope of works for this review involves comprehensive investigation and assessment of Council’s financial position and performance, from before the merger of the three Councils until the present day.

This enhancement of the process from a simple audit to a more comprehensive review necessitated a change in terminology, to Financial Sustainability Review, to more accurately reflect the breadth and scale of the initiative being undertaken.

Council’s official End of Financial Year results will be independently audited, as is standard practice in local government across NSW.

Council will update the community as to progress of the review and end results with actions to be undertaken, when the final review is delivered to Council.
