Applications are now open for event organisers to ask Orange City Council for sponsorship support.
This week’s Orange City Council meeting approved a new set of sponsorship guidelines to handle the way requests for funding are managed.
As part of the changes, the amount allocated in the council budget to make available for local events has tripled from $33,088 to one hundred thousand dollars.
Under the new approach council will invite funding applications three times a year, in May August and October. All applications will be reviewed by a panel of staff from Orange City Council, Orange 360 and regional tourism authorities, which will make funding recommendations to the council.
Under the new approach, funding has been allocated to four different categories of events.
- Incubators Events : $20,000 has been allocated to events being run for the 1st or 2nd time.
- Flagship Events : $30,000 has been allocated to assist events that contribute to the character of Orange and that attract overnight visitors
- Event Development Fund : $30,000 has been allocated to support events which have been sponsored before, but which can demonstrate a strategy for future growth.
- Quick Response : $20,000 has been allocated to support events that occur as a new and unplanned opportunity for Orange.
Orange Mayor Reg Kidd is encouraging the organisers of local events to find how the new grants program will work.
“The calendar of events in Orange is a fantastic part of what makes Orange are great place to live,” Cr Reg Kidd said. “Sometimes these events need some extra help to get started and so the council has allocated money that can be seed-funding to assist events which will bring more visitors to town.”
The deadline for the current round of applications is 11 September 2019, for events to be held between 1 October 2019 and 31 March 2020. Event organisers can apply online at :
