Council awards more than $600,000 in contracts

Greater Shepparton City Council noted the awarding of more than $600,000 in contracts at the December Council Meeting, for three local projects.

A total of $438,229.00 was awarded to Cleaves Earthmoving and Drainage Pty Ltd for the construction of Stage 2 of Karibok Park in Shepparton. The contract involves upgrade works to Karibok Park, behind the Shepparton Fire Station, and includes an upgrade to the Vaughan Street and Dudley Street intersection. Works are scheduled to commence on Monday 16 January and are expected to be completed by the end of February, weather permitting.

The two other contracts were both awarded to Tactile Australia Pty Ltd. The first was for construction of Stage 3 of the Echuca Road, Mooroopna shared path for $121,301.40. These works are from Anne Street to Anselmi Street and include demolition of kerb and channel, installation of approximately 518m2 of concrete footpath, supply and installation of signage and holding rails.

The second contract was for $56,815.00 for the Shepparton East Midland Highway recreational path. Both contracts are expected to start in the New Year.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said Council was looking forward to seeing these projects get underway.

“We know the community will benefit from these contracts, especially construction of the Echuca Road, Mooroopna shared path and the Midland Highway recreational path,” he said.

“Both projects ensure better connectivity around the region and encourage people to get outside and remain active. Congratulations to both of the companies for their successful tenders.”
