Council celebrates Townsville Dashboards launch’s first anniversary

Townsville City Council is gearing up to celebrate one year since the Townsville Dashboards platform was launched

Townsville Dashboards was created to make it easier for the community to find high quality, current data and information about Townsville.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said it was an important community platform to increase easy access to information on issues that matter to locals, visitors and investors.

“Townsville Dashboards was designed as part of Council’s commitment to greater transparency,” Cr Hill said.

“It includes a variety of data on Council’s performance and service delivery, including pet registrations and complaints, the volume of maintenance activities taken out in our suburbs, library programs and visits, community grants, right to information requests and development applications.

“Council is committed to providing the Townsville community with information that is easily accessible and can help with making decisions on where to live or invest, which is why monthly Full Council meetings are also now livestreamed for the public.

“Since its launch in February last year Townsville Dashboards has had more than 125,000views, making it a very popular platform.”

Governance and Finance Committee Chairperson, Councillor Verena Coombe, said the Townsville Dashboards was an important part of increasing transparency within the organisation.

“We want to continue to improve trust and build confidence with residents,” Cr Coombe said.

“Townsville Dashboards has current information on a wide range of Council activities, as well as about living in Townsville.

“The latest Townsville population figures and employment rate are readily available, as well as the recently completed liveability study and information about accessibility across the city.”
