Council invites Residents to attend second COG meeting in Hanwood

Community consultation remains a key focus for Griffith City Council, with the second Community Opinion Group (COG) Meeting to be held on Tuesday 5 July 2022.

Residents are invited to connect with Councillors and senior staff at the Hanwood Catholic Club from 7pm.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran will chair the meeting of which Council will present items as well as address any questions submitted for the Agenda by members of the community.

Councillor Curran said the COG Meetings demonstrate Council’s ongoing commitment to open and transparent consultation with the Community.

“Our first COG Meeting, held in April, was a massive success,” said Councillor Curran.

“We had over 30 people attend with a range of agenda items submitted including an update on Shared Paths, Toilets in Wood Park and Yoogali Water Retention.

“It was great to see so many people take the time to submit items and attend.”

Membership to the COG is open to all members of the community. Community members wishing to raise Agenda items or be personally notified of the Agenda of each COG Meeting can subscribe to the COG email list and then receive email notification as Meetings arise.

Meetings will also be advertised in the Council Catch Up and on Council media channels. Advertisements will also call for community Agenda items.

“The COG Meeting is an opportunity for all community members to interact with Councillors outside of the Ordinary Council Meeting framework,” said Cr Curran.

“If you have anything you’d like to add to our agenda, please do so now.”

Designed to complement the monthly Council Café and weekly Council Catch Up newsletter, the COG Meeting will allow community matters of concern to be documented and if appropriate, championed by a Councillor through a Notice of Motion procedure to Council for formal consideration.

To have your items added to the July COG Meeting Agenda, head to forms.griffith.nsw.gov.au/Forms/COGS and fill out the submission form by 4pm on Thursday 30 June 2022.

The COG Meetings will be held four times per year and will alternate between Yoogali, Griffith, Yenda and Hanwood.
