Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council want to hear your ideas for the future of our region.
This year we are looking back at our plan from 2021 and asking you to tell us how things have changed, and what should stay the same, as we head Towards 2042.
We will be supporting community discussions where you can tell us your aspirations and priorities for our local government area into the future.
Each council in NSW must review its Community Strategic Plan every 4 years and the updated plan will guide the actions of council and other agencies.
After the September 2024 election Council will use the new Community Strategic Plan to develop a Delivery Program which responds to the community’s feedback within a four-year work plan.
“This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and influence our future. It’s your chance to think about what you, your friends, family, and the wider community will need to grow and thrive towards 2042,” Mayor Kenrick Winchester said.
“When we spoke to the community about this in 2021, we received wide-spread feedback that showed the strengths of our local government area and highlighted where the community wanted to move into the future.
“I encourage everyone to get involved during February and March and to have their say. You can share your thoughts in different ways, including an online or hard copy survey, visiting a pop-up stall, completing a discussion guide with your local community group, and for our younger residents, creative drawing kits,” Cr Winchester said.
“We all aspire for a better future. Towards 2042 allows us to consider what we love about where we live, what we’d like our future to look like, and how we will get there. Together, we can document a future vision that respects our unique local area and lifestyle.”
Towards 2042 asks the local community some key questions so that we can review our Community Strategic Plan and makes sure it is an accurate representation of our future.
Council is helping get the word out and preparing the plan, but this is a community plan. This means that all kinds of organisations, community groups, and state agencies are responsible for making sure it happens.
The consultation period is open between 1 February and 15 March 2024.
