Council of Australian War Memorial reappointment 17 November

James McMahon DSC DSM will continue his work to support the commemoration and preservation of Australia’s military history, after being reappointed as a member of the Council of the Australian War Memorial.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel Andrew Gee said Mr McMahon would serve a further three year term, after joining the Council in October 2015.

“James is highly qualified for this role and brings invaluable expertise and stability to the Council at an important time in the Australian War Memorial’s history,” Minister Gee said.

“He has extensive experience in management, business administration, and a distinguished military career spanning 24 years.

“I would like to thank James for the significant contribution he has already made and I am confident he will continue to ensure the Australian War Memorial remains a place where Australians can go to learn about our military history while acknowledging the selfless sacrifice of our veterans.

“The work of the Council of the Australian War Memorial is crucial in raising national awareness of the service of our current and former serving Australian Defence Force members and their families.

“I thank all Council members for their dedication and hard work in preserving and sharing our military history.”
