Wollongong City Council has been advised by the Wisemans Park Wollongong City Bowling Club of its decision to terminate its lease of the Wollongong Tennis Club early, with the facility set to close from 29 August 2026.
While Council is disappointed by this decision, we will work closely with local stakeholders, user groups and the broader community to minimise disruption to activities currently taking place at the Wollongong Regional Tennis Centre and to reduce any potential impacts on future tennis events.
We recognise that the Wollongong Tennis Club has been a valued community facility and an important gathering place for local tennis players, families and visitors for many years. Its contribution to the sporting and social fabric of our community has been significant, and we acknowledge the concerns this announcement may cause for members and users of the venue.
