Council to support Riverina Field days 2022

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held Tuesday night, Councillors agreed to support the 2022 Riverina Field Days by way of a $5,000 grant.

Council has previously supported the Riverina Field days by way of monetary and in kind contributions, and is continuing that support through Tuesday’s decision.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said it is important for Council to support not only new events, but ongoing events which attract large numbers of visitors each year to Griffith.

“The Riverina Field Days is an important event on the calendar, with thousands flocking to the Griffith Showgrounds to take in the best of agriculture and leisure and bag a bargain,” said Councillor Curran.

“It is especially important during these uncertain times that Council supports events which attract visitors and boost sales for local operators.”

The 2021 Riverina Field Days saw more than 12,000 attendees across the two days. The event showcases new and emerging farming technologies, agricultural machinery, leisure, information stalls, giftware, food stalls, markets, family attractions, and more.

This year’s event is scheduled to be held Friday 13 and Saturday 14 May at the Griffith Showgrounds.
