Orange City Council has welcomed today’s announcement of successful government grants towards upgrades at the Jack Brabham Park sportrsfields and the Carriage Cottage in Bowen.

Nationals Upper House MP, Sam Farraway today announced funding towards infrastructure and youth based initiatives for the Orange and District Football Association and the Bowen Community and Technology Centre.
Both organisations are receiving the funding from successful applications to the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Orange and District Football Association has secured $129,356 towards lighting upgrades to the football grounds at Sir Jack Brabham Park.
The Bowen Community and Technology Centre has secured $98,529 towards their efforts to assist young people with homework, reading and school associated projects, as well as job search and online training for all ages.
Mr Farraway said that these projects will benefit a variety of youth in the Orange region.
“Projects such as upgrading the lighting at Sir Jack Brabham Park don’t only benefit local youth by opening up playing and training opportunities, but they also benefit football enthusiasts across the region.
“Once these upgrades are complete it will provide better opportunities for the Orange and District Football Association to host tournaments and events that they otherwise couldn’t.
“I’m aware that the Bowen Community and Technology Centre has been struggling with outdated computers and other basic infrastructure. This funding will be a real
boost for the hard working volunteers and also for the young people they help out.”
Cr Tony Mileto, who is also president of the Orange & District Football Association, said the $129 thousand grant would contribute to an upgrade of the lighting at Jack Brabham, and attract even more than the two and a half thousand Orange resident who play football already.
“It will let night training happen as well as encouraging more people into the game of football in Orange,” Cr Tony MIletm said.
“It’s going to make a huge difference. With the number of fields we have in Orange, we’re stretching it to squeeze in the number of games that are ready to be played during the season. We’re grateful t0 the government for coming on board with this funding. We had a strong bid in this time and we’re looking forward to spending that money here at Jack Brabham park and improving the facilities here.”
