The Hills Shire Council has been recognised across the Asia Pacific for its commitment to transparency and for delivering an exceptional report.
Council won a Gold Award for its 2021-2022 Annual Report at the 73rd Australasian Reporting Awards (ARAs) held in Sydney on Thursday, June 15.
This prestigious award is open to companies, governments and not-for-profits across the Asia Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. It is given to those with the highest reporting standards.
Council also secured the Work Health and Safety Reporting Award, which acknowledges exceptional reporting that promotes workplace health and safety, on the night.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said the awards showcase Council’s dedication to producing high-quality reports.
“One of the aims of Council’s Annual Report is to ensure that detailed information is provided in a clear and easy-to-read format. We want to highlight the important work we are doing and the goals we are achieving for our residents, and our Annual Report does just that,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“I would like to congratulate all our Council staff for their hard work over the many months of producing this report.”
General Manager of The Hills Shire Council, Michael Edgar said the award was a credit to the staff and the excellent, people-focused services being delivered by Council.
“To win a Gold Award is particularly pleasing as it means our reporting has been independently assessed as meeting a very high standard,” Mr Edgar said.
“I encourage our residents to take the time to read our report as it will inform them of the breadth and performance of Council over the reporting period. It also tells a terrific story about what went well, what went not so well and where we are headed.
“It’s an outstanding achievement and those who worked hard on this statutory document should be very proud of the results.”
