At the meeting, following a vote for each role, Councillors elected Cr Tony Reneker as the new Mayor and Cr Michael Kidd as the Deputy Mayor of Leeton Shire Council.

Mayor Cr Reneker said he is honoured to be elected to the position of Mayor and looked forward to serving the community and the council with a view to delivering solid results for Leeton Shire.

“As Mayor I look forward to working with and bringing out the best in our talented group of Councillors, so that we can collectively do a great job of listening and responding to the community, as well as making good decisions.

“At last night’s meeting, when Councillors shared their aspirations for the term, there were many common themes aimed at ensuring Leeton is a great place to live, work and play, as well as making sure our Council is run sustainably.

“Our priorities include holding government department’s accountable for services like health and policing, creating jobs and supporting businesses, through to increasing childcare and completing key major projects. We have a busy term ahead.

“One of my personal priorities is to inspire young people to get involved with community and consider joining Council in the future,” said Mayor Reneker.

Deputy Mayor Michael Kidd thanked the Councillors for electing him and said he looked forward to a successful term.

“My focus is to support Mayor Reneker and my fellow Councillors so that we can further grow the Shire and see all of our major projects, such as the Roxy Theatre, delivered in full and operating,” said Deputy Mayor Kidd.
