COVID-19 restrictions reintroduced: Casey

With the reintroduction of COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions taking effect at midnight on 8 July, some City of Casey community facilities will once again be temporarily closed and some services modified until further notice.

The Bunjil Place precinct, including the Customer Service counter, café, gallery, box office, and Library closed at 4.00 pm today (8 July). Our leisure facilities which had recently reopened, including Casey RACE and Casey ARC, will again close temporarily at the end of business today, while the Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre, Casey Stadium and Berwick Leisure Centre, will remain closed. Playgrounds and skateparks will also close.

Wilson Botanic Park Berwick (WBPB) and the 1,001 Steps in Narre Warren North will remain open to pedestrians, providing an opportunity for Casey residents to exercise locally, however social distancing must be followed by residents at all times at each of these facilities.

Other facilities which had recently re-opened, including The Shed, The Factory, Myuna Farm, and The Old Cheese Factory, will also close temporarily.

Public Halls, Senior Citizen centres and Men’s Sheds will close temporarily. Neighbourhood Houses and Community Learning Centres will be closed to the general public, however they may conduct essential services such as food banks only. Community sport and sports pavilions will be closed, however we are awaiting further direction on outdoor tennis courts.

Kinders will return to face to face learning from Monday 13 July and Family Day Care will continue to operate within strict guidelines.

School crossings will continue delivery next week and rostering will be adjusted pending further announcements.

Our Maternal Child Health Service will continue in its current form, which means most consultations will be conducted over the phone, and some limited face-to-face consultations for infants will be held in centres.

Our community services such as Home Care, Meals on Wheels and Community transport will continue to be provided to clients, with strict observance of social distancing and personal protective measures. The sharps container service will revert to a home drop-off service.

While the City of Casey Youth Services remain closed, we will continue to provide free and confidential counselling and support for young people in Casey. There will also be limited face to face youth counselling from Monday 13 July, by referral only, at the Narre Warren Youth Information Centre.
