Covid Update: Two new cases recorded in NT 3 December

The Northern Territory has recorded two new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. These include:

· A male who arrived from Melbourne on 29 November and was in home quarantine with three other family members has tested positive for COVID-19. He is symptomatic and he and his family have been transferred to the Centre for National Resilience (CNR).

· A female who arrived on Jetstar flight JQ 692 from Adelaide on 2 December has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing is underway. She and the two family members she was travelling with transited directly from the airport to the CNR.

These cases are not connected to the NT outbreak, with the total number remaining at 60.

There are currently 226 active close contacts for cluster two. Of those, all have been contacted and are isolating, and 208 have returned a negative test.

More than 2,700 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday.

Wastewater testing results for the Bicentennial Road catchment site in Katherine remain positive. There have been no other unexpected positive wastewater testing results across the NT.

It is critical that anyone in the Territory, especially residents from Katherine, who have symptoms gets tested for COVID-19 immediately to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Arrivals from South Australia

The Chief Health Officer (CHO) has declared South Australia a red zone for the purposes of travel to the NT, from 8.00pm today.

Fully-vaccinated arrivals coming to the NT from a COVID-19 red zone herecan apply to undertake seven days home quarantine. Unvaccinated Territory residents and those who have approval to enter the NT will be required to undertake 14 days mandatory supervised quarantine. Unvaccinated people are unable to enter the NT.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all health directions and vaccinations for all those eligible.

· Check in using The Territory Check In App every time, everywhere

· If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19

· Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly

· Do not go to work if you feel sick

· Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres where possible.
