Covid Update: Wastewater testing update 3 October

NT Government

2 October 2021

Negative results have returned following repeat testing of wastewater samples taken from the Berrimah Treatment Plant after the detection of viral fragments for the period 24 – 28 September 2021.

This outcome may indicate a person who transited through the catchment area shed fragments of the virus.

The detection of viral fragments in wastewater can come from someone who has recovered from COVID-19 and is no longer infectious.

Further testing of wastewater is underway to help monitor the situation and as part of the NT’s ongoing surveillance program.

It is important all Territorians and visitors who were in Darwin between 24 and 28 September 2021, get tested for COVID-19 if you have any symptoms such as a cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, change in taste or smell and a sore throat.
