Cr Jami Klisaris elected as new Mayor of City of Stonnington

Serving in her third term as a Councillor this will be the second time Cr Klisaris has been Mayor, having previously been in the role from 2016-2017. Cr Melina Sehr was elected as Deputy Mayor.

Cr Klisaris was first elected as a City of Stonnington Councillor in 2012 and has been re-elected by her community twice. She represents Stonnington’s East Ward and has been actively involved as a Board Member with the Municipal Association of Victoria since 2017.

“It is my great honour to serve the Stonnington community as Mayor for the second time and I thank my fellow Councillors for the opportunity,” Cr Klisaris said.

“I’d also like to congratulate Cr Kate Hely for her time as Mayor, I look forward to working alongside her for the next three years.

“With lockdowns behind us, we’re working on economic and community recovery initiatives to ensure our businesses and residents are supported.

“One of the projects I’m most excited about started in my first term as Mayor in 2016-2017 when Council pursued opportunities to create more facilities for female sport. Five years later, I’m delighted that construction of four new indoor netball and basketball courts will soon get underway at the Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park in Malvern East.

“With both state and federal elections on the horizon in 2022 there is also a fantastic opportunity to advocate for commitments in Stonnington. I can’t wait to get started!” Cr Klisaris said.
