Creating local jobs: Manunda Place – revitalising CBD

Works are progressing on the new Manunda Place inthe heart of Darwin CBD with the completion of the ground floor slab.

The environmentallyfriendly nine-storeyoffice tower is creating 250 construction jobs, help to revitalise the CBD andbecome a new home for Department of Health staff.

Whencompleted in 2020,Manunda Place will house over 800 Government staff.

Building owner, Sandran is meeting its 95% local content commitmentand continues to work closely with industry and theBuy Local Industry Advocate throughout the project.

The buildings architecture will feature an internalatriums, a five-star energy efficiency rating,arooftop garden and shading and greening at street level to helpreduce heat loads in the CBD.

Sandran are developing other projects thatwill contribute to the revitalisation of the CBD including:

o a320 bay public car park in Litchfield Street to provide additional parkingcapacity in the Cavenagh Street precinct;

o upgrading Energy House with a green faadeand childcare centre on the ground floor; and

o providing a capital contribution to the Cityof Darwin for upgrades to Litchfield Street.

The next milestone will be the completion ofthe basements with works commencing at the ground floor plane.
