  • Government not doing enough to protect Tasmania’s creative, cultural industries
  • Recent stimulus package inadequate
  • Liberals must join other states in providing immediate support
  • The Liberals are risking the future of Tasmania’s creative industries with an inadequate support package to see the sector through the COVID-19 crisis.

Shadow Minister for Arts and Creative Industries Jen Butler said it’s vital that the government throws a viable economic lifeline to the sector.

“The government’s recently announced $1.5 million support package is a welcome investment in building digital and screen capacity,” Ms Butler said.

“But there is nothing for education, equipment and infrastructure in the sector and grants are limited.

“The creative and cultural sector supports 5000 jobs and contributes $127 million to the Tasmanian economy, as well as creating flow-on benefits to other hard-hit areas of the economy like tourism and hospitality.
