Cricket Victoria launches Indigenous Month

Throughout the month of January, Cricket Victoria (CV) will be celebrating the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to our great game.

This celebration will include the incorporation of a national ‘One Consistent Act’ where teams come together in an act of unity for reconciliation.

Victorian Cricket has a deep and vibrant Indigenous history, with the majority of representatives in the first Australian Team to tour internationally in 1868 coming from the Western Districts of our state.

Across January, CV will be celebrating our connection with Indigenous culture through:

  • A pre-match ‘One Consistent Act’ barefoot Reconciliation Circle at our WNCL matches on 7 and 9 January at the CitiPower Centre in St Kilda
  • Launching the Renegades Indigenous guernsey design in the lead up to their Indigenous match
  • Hosting the inaugural Melbourne Renegades Indigenous Match at Marvel Stadium on 21 January v Hobart Hurricanes
  • Indigenous rounds and matches in both the Victorian Premier Cricket and Cricket Southern Bayside competitions
  • Increasing awareness of Indigenous health via our Deadly Choices partnership
  • Coverage of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships, starting on 27 January

We’ll also be telling stories on the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cricketers to the Victorian community across the entire month.
