CSIRO appoints leader for Future Industries

Following an external global search, Kirsten Rose has been appointed to the role of Executive Director, Future Industries as part of CSIRO’s Executive Team.

Kirsten is a respected leader in energy, technology and innovation, with a career spanning 30 years in the US, UK and Australia. She is currently Head of Innovation, Sustainable Operations at BHP, where she has global responsibility for bringing together innovation and technology to drive material improvements in key sustainability-related challenges.

Her previous positions include Director of the Founder Institute, an entrepreneur training and start-up launch program, State Manager for the Australian Institute of Company Directors and CEO of the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia.

Kirsten also actively supports the innovation ecosystem through Non-Executive Director and advisory board roles and is a member of CSIRO’s Energy Advisory Committee and CEDA’s State Advisory Council.

She will bring a valuable combination of technical understanding, deep commercial experience and stakeholder engagement skills to the Future Industries portfolio, which comprises the Agriculture and Food, Health and Biosecurity, Manufacturing and Services Business Units.

Kirsten will join CSIRO in August and will be based in Kensington, Perth.
