Custom Plates show N Shine lights up Melbourne 4X4 show

National 4x4 Outdoors Show

The National 4×4 Outdoors Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds from August 19th to 21st will play host to the newly named Custom Plates Show N Shine competition, with cash prizes and bragging rights on the line.

Melbourne enthusiasts will have the opportunity to showcase their pride and joy with a great mix of rigs both, old and new, battle-hardened off-roaders, practical work rigs and weekend show ponies all expected to participate.

Local entries are invited to take centre stage at Australia’s premier outdoor lifestyle exhibition, with the call for entries now open online via www.4x4show.com.au/melbourne until 1 August.

Shortlisted nominations will be invited to display at the event, with the victors in each category receiving $250 in cash, as well as prizes and trophies, with the best in show from both Saturday and Sunday winning a $495 Custom Plates gift voucher.

“We are very excited to welcome Custom Plates on board as the sponsor of Show N Shine. We know our audience love accessorising their vehicles and the uniqueness and huge range of styles offered by Custom Plates is the perfect finishing touch on any show rig,” Jon Perry, Event Director, said.

“While the event draws together the very best displays for the off-road aftermarket, the Custom Plates Show N Shine aspect showcases a massive array of street legal modifications from some very creative owners that is sure to excite the crowds.

It is our hope the display will inspire others to understand the possibilities when it comes to their own future projects.”

Headlining the classes is the Rough & Tumble category, which focuses on functionality and off-road capabilities, emphasising body armour, roll cages, big flex, lockers, reduction gears, off-road tyres, winches, and off-road light bars.

The Tough Tradie category is all about working hard and playing even harder!

Dedicated to multi-purpose capabilities, the class is open to utes with trays or canopies, with expected upgrades to components including storage, roof racks, towbars, and other functional upgrades that get the job done during the week but are ready to head off-road on the weekends.

With a focus on towing capacity, rapid deployment at the destination and long-haul reliability, the Terrific Tourer category seeks entries that are good at towing loads, are fuel-efficient and are strong.

Criteria to be judged include lifted/re-engineered suspension, long-range fuel tanks, 12v setup, off-grid capabilities, informatics, rooftop tents, rear cabins and storage compartments.

For each category, a shortlist of ten finalists will be invited to display at the Show, with judging to be conducted by a panel of industry experts.

Custom Plates is proud to sponsor the Show N Shine competition at this year’s National 4×4 Outdoors Show. The 4×4 community is incredibly passionate and we look forward to engaging with them and in particular, all contestants of the Custom Plates Show N Shine competition – it should be a great event.” Brendon Wilson, Custom Plates Manager.

Outside of the Custom Plates Show N Shine competition, the usual host of displays from the country’s top outdoors lifestyle brands will be accompanied by a vast selection of performances and activities.

A perennial show favourite returns with The Outback Stage, once again playing host to Australia’s top off-roading personalities, including Jase Andrews from All 4 Adventure, Pat Callinan, plus Shaun and Graham from 4WD 24-7.

The Proving Ground is back, allowing visitors to test out the latest and greatest machinery over a variety of terrain types, with the team from Four Wheel Drive Victoria on hand to help with a range of practical tips and tricks.

There will also be plenty of thrills and spills in the Action Arena, with entertainment for the whole family. To date, the Free Style Now stunt show has been confirmed with some exciting announcements around the final line-up expected in the near future.
