Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit make significant arrests as part of Operation Tidal

Police from the Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit (FTU) were busy making arrests over the weekend as part of Operation Tidal.

Patrolling officers observed a man allegedly driving erratically in an unregistered vehicle bearing stolen plates in Endeavour Hills on 8 February about 8pm.

Police intercepted the vehicle and allegedly located a stolen wallet.

Officers executed a search warrant at the man’s Clayton address and allegedly discovered stolen credit cards and identification.

The 32-year-old man was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and affix stolen plates.

He has been remanded to reappear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 26 February.

Later that evening, officers from the same unit observed a stolen car travelling along South Gippsland Freeway about 11.45pm.

The car was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Narre Warren South on 7 February and was allegedly involved in several other incidents.

Officers deployed stop sticks and the vehicle came to a stop before five males fled from the vehicle.

A short foot chase commenced before officers arrested two 17-year-old boys.

One Clyde North teenager was subsequently charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, evade police while being pursued, and breach of bail.

The other teenager, from Cranbourne, was charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, evade police while being pursued, and breach of bail.

Both have been remanded to reappear at a children’s court at a later date.

The next day, Dandenong police responded to reports a man was making threats with a knife at a Princess Highway supermarket in Dandenong on 9 February about 6.20pm.

The man was arrested by police shortly after and was charged with making threats to kill and possessing a controlled weapon.

The 21-year-old Doveton man has been remanded to reappear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 25 February.

A few days later, patrolling officers observed a running car at a Narre Warren service station with no visible driver.

Police approached the vehicle and located a female passenger inside who was allegedly in possession of a drug of dependence.

The male driver was located outside a nearby toilet allegedly in possession of the same substance.

Police charged the 25-year-old Clyde North man with trafficking and possessing drugs of dependence, possessing a controlled weapon, unlicensed driving and commit an indicatable offence while on bail.

He was remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court later today.

The 25-year-old Clyde North woman was charged with trafficking and possessing drugs of dependence, possessing a controlled weapon and handling proceeds of crime.

She was bailed to appear at court at a later date.

These arrests are part of Operation Tidal which utilises a highly visible police presence across the Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia Police Service Areas (PSAs).

Tidal is an ongoing operation and police will continue to focus resources where they’re most needed.
