Data Security Breach Involving Oracle CMS

Whitehorse City Council has been notified of a data breach of ‘Oracle CMS’ which the Council uses as its after-hours phone call service provider.

When people call the Whitehorse Council customer service line outside business hours, the call is diverted to OracleCMS who take the call on Council’s behalf.

Depending on what the call involves, customer data such as names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers may be recorded.

At this stage, we do not know the exact extent of the data breach or the details of the type of data. There are a number of other local councils in the same position.

OracleCMS is working with government authorities to investigate the incident.

Due to the breach, we have turned off Oracle CMS and calls are being diverted to council officers.

We take the privacy of our customers very seriously and we are taking urgent action to investigate if there has been any impact to our customers’ data.

If our customers are impacted, we will take every step possible to ensure that customers have been notified.

Oracle CMS does not have access to Whitehorse City Council data.

If you have any particular concerns about this incident, please speak to our Manager Customer Service 9262 6333.
