DBA professional indemnity insurance audits currently underway

As part of its program of checking dentists’ compliance with registration standards, the Dental Board of Australia is checking that appropriate professional indemnity insurance arrangements are in place.

It is one of the declarations that a dentist must make at the time of their initial registration and then at subsequent annual renewals.

These audits are part of the process by which The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Board work to ensure their mandate to protect the public is fulfilled.

Dentists should ensure they are audit-ready in 2019 by meeting the professional indemnity insurance obligations of their registration.

Those audited are selected randomly throughout the year, receiving an AHPRA audit notice in the mail which includes a checklist of the supporting documentation required to prove that they are meeting their professional indemnity insurance obligations.

If you are selected for an audit and would like assistance from the ADA, please contact your state or territory branch and if you require a copy of your certificate of currency, please see your insurer.
