Are you concerned about your memory or worried that someone you know may have dementia? Dementia Australia is offering a range of support in Mount Isa between 25 May and 27 May 2021.

There are estimated to be more than 3,400 people living with dementia in the federal electorate of Kennedy. Without a medical breakthrough, this number is expected to increase to an estimated 6,100 people living with dementia by 2058.

The Dementia Australia courses are an opportunity for people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends to attend free education sessions and to discuss the support and services Dementia Australia can provide. Please note, bookings are essential.

Carer Gateway – Information session

If you provide support for a loved one, there is help available for you too. Carer Gateway gives carers access to a range of free services and supports to help them in their caring role. Join us for a free information session and find out how we can best support you.

Grief, loss and dementia

This session provides an overview of dementia and caring for someone who has dementia, with a focus on practical tools to manage the emotions associated with change, including loss and grief.

Communication and dementia

The session provides information on dementia, the way we communicate and how changes in communication can occur as a result of dementia.

Understanding dementia

This session provides an introduction to dementia including an overview of different types of dementia, diagnosis, planning ahead and how to support someone living with dementia.

· Wednesday 26 May 10:00am-12:00pm in Cloncurry

Worried about your memory?

This session provides information on memory and common changes that may occur with ageing. It provides strategies for improving memory, when to seek help about your concerns and services provided by Dementia Australia.

· Thursday 27 May 9:30am-11:00am in Mount Isa
