Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is encouraging the community to tune in to four Design Talks where industry leaders will join the conversation on Your City Centre Beyond 2020.
TRC Planning and Development Chair Cr Megan O’Hara Sullivan said we hope listening to the talks inspires people to join the conversation about our City Centre.
“Toowoomba’s City Centre is a good news story. The Design Talks celebrate the successes while discussing the vision for the future of our city heart,” Cr O’Hara Sullivan said.
“The talks embrace the ideas of design leaders, each discussing topics ranging from inner-city living to re-invigorating older buildings and activating underused spaces.
“A new talk will be added every Tuesday to Council’s YourSay page throughout the four-week community engagement.
“The list of presenters include:
- Malcolm Middleton, Queensland State Government Architect
- Mandy Adams, Richard Adams Homes discusses the Mills Precinct and Wade Eiser, Director, Aspect Architecture.
- Stephanie Keays – Architecture
- Kyle Jenkins – Coordinator Visual Arts USQ; and
- Jen White and Tegan Steggal – Aspect Architects and Project Managers.
“This is a brilliant opportunity to hear from leaders of the design industries about the achievements of the past ten years of Toowoomba’s development and their ideas for what’s next.
“Through feedback from the community, we want to understand people’s ideas, priorities and thoughts on your city’s centre, and this is one way you can get involved.
“The Master Plan review for Toowoomba’s City Centre provides a process for capturing ideas for the city’s future up to 2031 and beyond.
“The engagement focusses on five themes that will help guide the direction of future investment in our CBD. The themes are:
- Activated: Creative ideas for the City Centre?
- Connected: Better ways to move around the City Centre?
- Greener: More trees in the City Centre?
- Liveable: Want to live in the City Centre?
- Post COVID-19: What’s your City Centre post COVID-19?
” Your City Centre – Beyond 2020 will generate sound ideas and concepts supporting priorities for development of the centre and surrounds into the future.
“Your responses will influence the updated implementation plan that will guide future development in our CBD, which includes the Railway Parklands Priority Development Area.
