Making sure our designing and planning standards in the Territory reflect and protect the NT climate and lifestyle is important to the Territory Labor Government.
This week marks the completion of stage one of the Northern Territory Planning Commission’s Designing Better consultation report.
Consultation has been underway with key stakeholder groups regarding better designing practices.
Designing Better is a NT Planning Commission and Northern Territory Government initiative that seeks to enable and promote quality and well-designed apartments and mixed use developments which:
- Respond to the Territory’s climate;
- Embrace innovation in their design; and, most importantly
- Make vibrant and liveable spaces for Territorians.
Overall the Designing Better report will see our unique way of life maintained by making planning and building design requirements which support the Territory lifestyle and help to make the Territory a great place to live and work.
The Territory Labor Government also recently delivered a key election commitment in restoring the integrity and confidence in the Northern Territory’s Planning System with passing the Planning Amendment Bill 2020.
This Bill will see improvements in community consultation and making the application process more efficient.
