Detectives charge man involved in shooting in Sydney’s south-west, NSW

Detectives have today charged a man allegedly involved in a public place shooting in Sydney’s south-west last year.

Emergency services were called to Tarlington Parade, Bonnyrigg, just before 11.30pm on Monday 31 August 2020, after shots were fired into a house.

Nine people – including two children – were home at the time but none were injured.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.

Detectives will allege the incident was part of an ongoing conflict between two groups in the area, which saw a series of public shootings in September last year.

Following extensive investigations, detectives stopped a Toyota Hilux utility on Young Street, Mt Pritchard, about 5.45am today (Friday 5 March 2021).

The driver, a 19-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

As part of inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s home in Mt Pritchard about 7am (Friday 5 March 2021), seizing cannabis.

The man was charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court today (Friday 5 March 2021).

Inquiries continue.
