Police are investigating following an incident in Frankston last night (17 September).
It is understood the victim was walking to his vehicle at a Nepean Highway service station when he was approached by an unknown male about 9.40pm.
The male, armed with a handgun, made demands for the victim’s car keys.
The victim refused and the offender struck him to the forehead with the handgun before stealing his cigarettes.
He then fled to a waiting vehicle which drove off south on Nepean Highway.
The vehicle is described as a brown or maroon VT Commodore with no registration plates.
The victim, a 48-year-old Frankston South man, sustained a minor injury and did not receive treatment.
Detectives have released images of the man they believe can assist with their enquiries in relation to the incident.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, 183cm, slim and aged in his mid 20s.
He was wearing a grey top, black bum bag, red underpants and possibly a white t-shirt with black pants, black and white sneakers and a maroon beanie with ear warmers.
