Detours in place for Shiralee Road upgrade

Detours will be in place when Orange City Council begins a major upgrade of Shiralee Road next week.

The council is planning to upgrade a 500 metre section of Shiralee Road , south of Rifle Range Road. alongside a new housing estate.

The project will include the installation of underground stormwater pipes, kerb & gutters and a wider road surface.

The work, which is expected to take approximately two months to complete and will happen in stages, will begin on Monday 26 August.

The road will be closed from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Residents will be able to access their properties during the project. The road will be re-open to traffic on weekends. When the road is closed access to the Phillip Shaw winery will be via Pinnacle Road.

Letters have been sent to local residents, and electronic message boards have been installed sending traffic through detours along Racecourse Road and Pinnacle Road.

Access to the bicycle-walking path that runs from Shiralee Road south to Hawkes Lane will also be closed at Shiralee Road end.
