Industry leaders, geologists and explorers will gather in Ballarat later this week for the Australian Institute of Geoscientist’s (AIG) Victorian Minerals Round-up, with discussions on data, discovery and development.
Resources Victoria is proud to be the Geoscience Partner of this year’s event being held at the Ballarat Goods Shed on 18-19 June.
Critical minerals will be a key topic of discussion with several presentations focussing on Victoria’s emerging opportunities.
Victoria has proven deposits of gold and antimony, titanium, zirconium and rare earth elements. There are also opportunities across the state for other minerals and metals including copper, high-purity alumina and high-purity silica.
Resources Victoria’s geoscientists will present on a diverse range of topics, including new research into gold and the antimony in central Victoria. Understanding why minerals occur where they do, helps explorers to better target their search.
Presentations will also be delivered on environmental baseline studies exploring the chemistry of groundwater and soil in Victoria’s north-west.
The event will feature presentations from a range of other organisations including Geoscience Australia, universities and mineral explorers active in Victoria.
The AIG is the leading professional institute representing geoscientists.
The event partnership will connect Resources Victoria to key players in the minerals sector and exploration teams across the state.
