Director Amy Duggan retires from Football Australia Board

Football Australia today announces the retirement of Amy Duggan from its Board of Directors.

Amy Duggan, a former Matilda, dedicated advocate for football, and respected leader within the Australian football community, is stepping down from her board position after four and a half years of impactful service.

Since joining the Football Australia Board, Duggan has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation and Australian football. Her efforts have notably advanced the visibility and success of our national teams, especially the CommBank Matildas. Duggan’s commitment to ensuring football ‘owns the narrative’ has been pivotal in capturing the hearts and minds of the public, making the sport more compelling and authentic to fans nationwide.

During her tenure, Duggan also served on the Football Development Committee, driving significant investment into our national teams’ programs. This period of investment has been crucial to the Subway Socceroos’ 11th-place finish at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and the CommBank Matildas’ impressive 4th-place finish at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™.

Reflecting on her time with Football Australia, Amy Duggan expressed her gratitude, stating, “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve on the Board of Football Australia and to contribute to the growth and success of football in our country. As a former Matilda, I feel privileged to have served Australian football in this capacity and cherish the countless memories and achievements we have shared along the way. I wish the Board and the entire organisation all the best for the future.

“As I transition from my role, I eagerly anticipate supporting our teams and enjoying the beautiful game from the sidelines.”

Anter Isaac, Chairman of Football Australia, praised Amy’s contributions, stating, “Amy has been a tremendous asset to our Board, bringing invaluable insights and unwavering commitment to the growth of football across all levels. Her dedication and insight have been instrumental in shaping the development and delivery of our strategies and initiatives. While we will miss her participation at the Board level, we are deeply grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
