A man will face court today charged with high range drink driving after crashing an alleged stolen vehicle in the state’s north yesterday.
About 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 November 2021), officers attached to Manning/ Great Lakes Highway Patrol attended the Pacific Highway at Rossglen – 37km south of Port Macquarie – after reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, police found a white coloured Mitsubishi Triton utility wedged between trees after veering off the road.
A man was sitting a short distance from the vehicle and was subjected to a roadside breath test that allegedly returned a positive reading.
The 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.161.
Further inquiries revealed the man was released from a correctional facility yesterday. His licence is disqualified until 2026 and police believe the vehicle he was driving was stolen from a carpark of a motor inn in Cessnock earlier that day.
The Coffs Harbour man was charged with high range PCA and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today (Thursday 4 November 2021).
