Distraction-style robbery at Casula phone store leaves woman with broken pelvis, NSW

Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was knocked over by a teenager following a distraction-style robbery of a mobile phone store in Sydney’s south-west.

Just after 3pm last Friday (12 April 2019), a group of teenagers entered a telecommunications store at Casula and were looking at mobile phones and watches on display.

A short time later, the teens were to leave the store by staff members after multiple members of the group began pulling on items, which were attached to the display table by a security cable.

The group initially ignored the direction but were eventually ushered from the store.

Police have been told one male teenager stole a watch and another male teenager attempted to steal a mobile phone but dropped it as he left.

CCTV depicts the second teenager knocking over an 81-year-old woman as he runs from the shopping centre.

The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital, where she remains undergoing treatment for a fractured pelvis.

Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command attended the location and commenced an investigation.

As their inquiries continue, detectives have released CCTV of a group of people, who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
