What is happening in South West Rocks?

South West Rocks is a haven for nature lovers, with world-class fishing, diving and hiking. The natural attractions, beaches, relaxed lifestyle and community spirit are highly valued attributes.

But the best thing about South West Rocks is the people. You make South West Rocks what it is and you can determine what it will be.

There are a large number projects for community consideration, engagement and feedback right now from housing development to tourism signage. So we’re having a Community Catch-up to let you talk directly to councillors and staff about what you think we should do.

Register to attend the Community Catch-up

South West Rocks Structure Plan

The Structure Plan will outline priorities and develop actions to meet the development and planning needs for South West Rocks. Through the Structure Plan Council will articulate a clear vision and framework for the future and understand the values that the community cherish and want to sustain.

If you can’t make the Catch-up, you can also complete the comprehensive survey or short survey.

Local Housing Strategy

Council is also currently examining the types of housing that should be built, and where it should be built. This Discussion Paper lists key priorities and recommendations for future housing growth.

Let us know if you agree with these recommendations by completing the survey or let us know at the Catch-up.

Signage for the future

Council is developing a Signage Strategy for Kempsey Shire that will provide guidelines for the design and positioning of signage that reflects the values of our community and communicates a strong brand identity.

This strategy will include signage at shire boundaries, town entry points, parks and reserves, and visitor information signage. The Strategy will identify signage that needs to be replaced and will provide guidelines for implementing the new signage.

Register to attend the signage workshop on Tuesday 22 March 4:30-6:30PM at SWR Country Club or talk to us about it at the Catch-up. You can also complete the survey.

So come to the Community Catch-Up

The SWR Community Catch Up is scheduled for 24 March 2022 from 5-7PM at the Country Club.

Councillors and Senior Leadership Staff and you can register for the workshop and drop a pin to register a location of interest or concern.

You are invited to submit your questions and discussion points ahead of each catch-up through Your Say Macleay.

The Community Catch-up program is an integral part of Council’s Communications Strategy, allowing instant, in-person engagement and relationship building between key decision makers and the community.

Linked to our online engagement platform, Your Say Macleay, and Council’s integrated planning and reporting process, the catch-ups are reported on and transparently inform Council decision making.
